Proposed changes to bus routes in the Eastern Suburbs.

Proposed Changes by Route

The proposed changes will help improve the efficiency and reliability of the network by withdrawing or redirecting some routes to provide a simpler and more robust network.

The proposal will improve services to the Green Square/Victoria Park area, however, the majority of bus routes in the Eastern Suburbs will remain unchanged under this proposal.

Although some customers may need to walk further to access bus stops on parts of the proposed routes, the community as a whole will benefit from the provision of simpler, more direct, regular services.

Kingsford / Eastgardens to City

New Route 342 - is an altered Route 302 and will operate between Kingsford and the Sydney CBD via Lenthall Street, Epsom Road and Joynton Avenue. The new route is response to growing demand from new major residential development in the Green Square/ Victoria Park area.

Route X43 services will be converted to 'all stops' Route 343 and 344 services to better meet passenger demand.

New Route 344 - replaces Route 301 and will operate from Eastgardens to Circular Quay, running together with Route 343 via Rothschild Avenue, then to Elizabeth Street and the Sydney CBD.

Route 341 to be renumbered - Route 341 between Kingsford and Avoca Street has been renumbered as Route 346. There are no other changes to this route.

Route 342 to be renumbered - Route 342 between Kingsford and Daceyville has been renumbered as Route 347. There are no other changes to this route.

Darlinghurst to City

Alteration to Route 311 - Route 311 will run from Gresham Street, Sydney to St Vincent's Hospital in Darlinghurst, and will no longer continue to Railway Square. In Elizabeth Bay, due to frequent blockages of narrow streets, the loop via Billyard Avenue will be discontinued to further improve reliability and will assist in the possible future use of low-floor buses on the route.

Bondi Junction to Sydenham

Alteration to Route 357 - Part of Route 357 is to be redirected via Stanley and King Streets, and Alison Road, Randwick, to better serve residents and schools in the local area.

Withdrawal of Route 359 - Bus services on Route 359 will be withdrawn and replaced with a school peak service only. Residents who use Route 359 will be able to use Routes 357 and 400 instead.

Sans Souci to Bondi Junction

Alteration to Route 303 - Route 303 will be altered to provide a new cross-regional link between Sans Souci and Bondi Junction via the University of New South Wales and Randwick shops. From Anzac Parade, Route 303 will no longer run to the Sydney CBD and will be redirected via High Street, Frenchmans Road and Bronte Road to the Bondi Junction Interchange, following the same streets as Route 400.

Withdrawal of Route X03 - express peak hour bus services between Sans Souci and the Sydney CBD on Route X03 will be withdrawn. Passengers are able to use Route 303 to Mascot shops and change for Sydney CBD services.

School bus services will be assessed during the planning process and school communities consulted on any proposed changes.

Frequency of service - The frequency of service on the proposed amended routes will be similar to the service currently provided on existing routes.
